Preparing for Breast Enlargement Surgery

Planning and preparing for breast enlargement surgery and recovery can help reduce stress, which can have a negative impact on healing. Limiting the number of commitments you will have in the days following your plastic surgery will allow you to focus on your recovery.

If you have children or pets, try to make arrangements for someone else to care for them for the week after breast enlargement surgery. You will be tired and experience some amount of discomfort. It is important that you take the time you need to rest.

Schedule enough time off work. Many patients feel like they are ready to return to their jobs after a couple of days, but many doctors recommend taking at the very least, three to five days to rest and recover. Some may recommend a week or longer.

When you return home, you will want to have the things you need and use easily accessible. Rearrange items in the kitchen and bathrooms so that you will not have to reach above your head or bend down for what you need. You should also have several pillows to keep you comfortable while you are recovering. Boredom may set in, so having books and movies ready to keep you occupied while you are resting will be helpful. Have the refrigerator and pantry stocked with healthy, nutritious food that is easily prepared.

Since you will not be able to wash your hair for a few days following plastic surgery, you should shampoo it the night before. It will be difficult to brush your hair for the first couple of days. A long handled hair brush can make this task a little easier. You should remove all jewelry and piercings and all nail polish the night before surgery.

Make sure that you have the list of pre-operative instructions on hand so that you can follow all of your doctor’s directions.
